Active Release Techniques
ART is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system and movement-based technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves that generally result from muscle injury. Soft tissue injury change in three important ways:
- Acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc.)
- Accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma)
- Lack of oxygen (hypoxia)
Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become short and weak, tension on tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)
With the help of a stainless steel tool, our doctors help to address the pliability and mobility of soft tissue. We use FAKTR protocols in order to further address different soft tissue components allowing more blood flow, decreased scar tissue, and improved mobility.
From Olympians to Average Joe's, this tape gets the job done. We use RockTape to add that extra bit of support, strength, and competitive advantage. In the hands of our experienced staff, we can safely and effectively keep you at your peak performance!
